Food for thought and other stuff

I am now the "simple church guy", leaving a staff postion in a large church and going on a new adventure with God.  My family and I are excited and scared at the same time.
I long to see people connecting with God and each other in a meaningful way.  I'm not sure what it will all look like, but I'm ready for the adventure to begin!

Saturation Service - 3-21-09  Things are hopping!

We had a great time at the Saturation Service on Sat. March 21st. It isn't so much how that went as what God did at this one. Let me explain what I am talking about. We arrived at the Center and Brett and Matt set up the keyboard and music stands etc. 2 young ladies came in before hand and sat down. I didn't know them except that I figured that they usually met with Lonnie on the other side. Once the service started I figured there are only adults here and it's getting really 'spiritual' and they will probably leave. They were just sitting there wide eyed. We were in full worship mode for a little while and the levels of God's presence were rising. I'm talking about His manifest presence where it is discernible to the senses. It was getting heavy and I looked over and the girls were both sobbing and Patty was ministering to them. She left them and began to worship and I walked over and began talking to them. I sensed that they were being drawn by the Holy Spirit to the cross. I asked them the 2  diagnostic questions. "If you died today do you believe that you would go to heaven?" They both looked at me and said, "No." I didn't even get to the 2nd question, "Why?" I asked them if they would like to know Jesus and I explained the gospel to them They both prayed with me to accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Now if that's not cool enough listen to what happened next.

I'll preface this by telling you where I was at concerning the Freedom Center and what I have been praying. I feel that with all the other loose ends in my life right now that it's OK to get some of these things taken care of before I really focus on the ministry there. I felt that our presence there weekly was what spoke the loudest to the people that live there. The pace we are going is what I believe God is speaking to my heart at the moment. I have decided to hold off on my 12 step program and not to worry about really 'promoting' the Center. I said to the Lord, "If you want people here you are gonna have to bring them. It's gotta be you or it's not going to be." I've really felt to keep doing what we are doing, be consistant and win the confidence of the people in the area.

Well these 2 young ladies wandered in and stayed for the whole meeting and were touched by the Lord. We had many of our 'regulars' in attendance. We were all done and I was playing my bro. in law in a game of pool when this young adult aged guy stuck his head in looking for the 2 girls. They were still there.  I was right by the door and introduced my- self and we got into a conversation. He called 3 of his buddies in and we all talked for a while. Of course I showed them my "Tatoo" (Rom. 8:28) and that really got things going. They showed me theirs and one young man said, "I've never seen a Pastor like you before". The girls brother told me that when I start the program for those with addictive behaviors that he wants to be a part of it. He gave me his name and phone # and told me that if there was anything he could do for me or help me with please give him a call. That hasn't happened the entire time we have been there.

At the service there were prophetic words, a lot of prayer and ministry and tons of incredible anointed worship. For me all that pales in comparison to the way the Lord is opening the doors of the community. I had written and told many people that I couldn't wait to see what happened when the Presence of God spilled out onto the street during our Saturation Services. I have felt all along that these services were going to be the key to us establishing ourselves here in Jeannette. Seeking His face consistantly in a location can change the spiritual atmosphere over the entire area. (see 2 Chron. 7:14) By doing that we put down our stake so to speak. We claim that ground for God and the more we seek Him the more His Presence lingers when we aren't there. Light forces out darkness and by establishing our intentions and following through we show how serious we are. These services aren't about God ministering to us but us ministering to God.

Many times in our Praise and Worship we reach a point where we are satisfied that we 'entered in' or 'touched God' and we move right along. Well when Jesus was going without food and the disciples asked Him "Don't you want any of this bread, it's a long journey?" He said, "I have food that you know nothing about." John 4:32      Where had Jesus been? He had been with the woman at the well in Samaria where He had revealed Himself. He was speaking to her about true worship. Jesus doesn't eat food to be satisfied, He receives worship. He is satisfied in revealing Himself to people. That's what fills Him up. Many times when we stop in a 'worship' service and are satisfied God is just warming up. The Saturation Services are times when we can minister back to God what He is giving us. These are times when we can do something about the hunger God feels. These aren't for the spiritually faint of heart. We usually go for 3 hours but of course anyone can leave when ever they want to.

We've got 2 more pre-summer Saturation Services and 3 summer ones coming up. For these the old saying "The more the merrier" is really true. If you love the simple Presence of God without all the bells, whistles and distractions then you would love one of these services. If you see where we meet, not just the storefront but where it is located you immediatly know that it's gotta be God.

I invite anyone to drop in. See the homepage for service times. See the bottom of the Ministries page off the home page to see what the "Saturation Services" are all about and/or directions to the Center.

We do church really different than people today are used to. It wouldn't be strange to the believers in Acts. We share a meal together. Then we have P&W and discuss scripture with someone leading the discussion. There's real fellowship, community, accountability, intimacy and individual involvement in what's going on. Every opinion is valued. You can't go here and be lost in the crowd. We have prayer and ministry if it's needed.

Just like I've always done I'm just gonna keep pumping the pump. We're getting water but there's a whole lot more coming down the pipe. I can sense it and it's with great anticipation that we enter into this new season of ministry.

Ruined forever for nominal Christianity, Pastor Danny
